Nails and Sweaters

Ahhhh finals are next week! But to distract myself/relieve some stress I've looked for some inspiration to post:

With the colder weather comes layers and a need for some major accessorizing. And lately the best and easiest way to add a little flare to one's outfit is by nail color. so I decided to experiment and have fun and I like the turn out :) (I also tried the design with the purple and pink--clearly i had a lot of time)

And now to sweaters! I've lately been wearing one (or two together) and let me tell you-- its the best way to stay warm but have the ability to mix up textures to create a multi-dimensional palette. My favorites include my cheetah and my tan with buttons. But my all time love is my fuzzy blue-its a character of its own :)

I've been gone for a while...

But I'm back! So, with college apps, senior year and everything else, I haven't had much time or inspiration to take pics for my blog but thats all done with now. I still have apps and the rest of the year to finish but I'm ready to post some stuff and keep updating! NO MORE SLACKING (this shall be my mantra for now on :) )

First things first: outfit

Since I don't have a super professional camera or a photographer or tripod for any matter I'll start posting bits of my outfit, like the accessories or the top and pants and when I'm able, the whole outfit when its put together (because that's when you get to see the beauty of it all)

That being said, here's what I'm wearing tomorrow:

(two-toned oxfords, gold danglies, and "moonstruck" nail polish)

I'll be pairing this with a purple tribal top and some black pants (billowy at the top, slim at the bottom). Will post pics sooon!

Second, I've been wearing my hair wavy recently and thought it'd be nice to post a pic with instructions on getting the effect:

For the hair above, I wore my hair in a french braid in the back and in a top bun at night. In the morning, my hair was like this! Most of the time though,

1)I'll section my hair into big pieces
2) use a medium size curling iron to curl
3) Then run my fingers though the pieces, to create a less defined look
4)Top it off with a little oil sheen for shine

Well there goes the first post in months haha. Hope you enjoy!

mini photoshoot for pacsun contest

so pacsun is having a contest on accessorizing. I decided to enter and took more than a few shots to get the one I thought would fare the most. I don't think I'll win, but I think I have a good chance to be in the top 10. I'll let you know at the end of the week...

Swapping! and Bleached Denim

I recently went to a swap hosted by a friend and ended up finding a few treasures. Among the treasures were a blue silk blouse and a some scarves. My favorite scarf features an apple pattern with the phrase: an apple a day keeps the doctor away (I'll post pics later). The swap was hosted at a local park, so it was pretty low key, but the the turnout was nice and I'm kinda glad it wasn't huge. With a small amount of people, the swap was more intimate and everyone had a chance to get more of what they wanted :)

(blue blouse and floral tank-my camera made them look yellowish :()

(a close up of the tank pictured above)

On another note, I bleached my jean jacket! I'm super happy how it turned out:

If you like, here's the steps to what I did:

1. Fill a bucket with about 5 cups of bleach (that's a estimate, basically not too much) and add about 2 cups of water.
2. Place the jacket halfway in the bucket and let sit for an hour. Check frequently to make sure you are getting the area you want bleached.
3. After an hour, take the jacket out the bucket and rinse it with cold water.
4. Let air dry for 24 hours.
5. Wash with cold water to get rid of the bleach scent.
6. Enjoy!

Spotlight

Hey! so I'm going to start a special post called Spotlight where I post images of one or more of my favorite pieces of clothing or accessories at the moment.

1. Shoulder Bag

I got this purse from my mom-she didn't use it so it wasn't hard for her to part with it. But for me it would take a lot since I think this purse has so many elements that make it unique and precious. For one, it features multiple textures of leather of different colors that both compliment and contrast each other. Also it features metal detailing, particularly the heart shaped clasp.  The purse is big enough for my wallet, phone and a few other things. Perfect for making a run :)

2. Two- toned Oxfords

I got these for $20! I was looking for brown flats and came across these at Urban Outfitters. The light brown part is linen and the darker brown is faux leather. I've only worn them once since I don't have pants to wear with them yet, but I'm excited to wear them more in the fall. I've kept them in the shoe box for a while and every now or then I'll come across them-it's like a finding a small treasure and a reminder that I need to wear them more!
